Tromsø seeks the construction of a new fire and emergency rescue station; the Tromsø District Police and the Norwegian Coastal Administration (Kystverket) are planning relocation; the need for bolstered emergency resources is increasing due to maritime activity and petroleum exploration in the North, and new real-time data technologies emerge in a growing university city. Considering these premises Acona Technopole and the community interest group Tromsø Sjøfront has developed a proposal for an Emergency Services Centre, illustrated on an appropriate site on Stakkevollvegen. The centre is a possible investment for desired development in the area, and corresponds to requirements and available resources for establishment. The concept was launched in 2006. Arne Rydningen.
